How Often Should You Exfoliate Your Body?

Over-exfoliating damages skin as much as skipping it. The right frequency, explained simply.

Applying a body scrub to the leg during a relaxing bath

Skin needs time to renew itself between two scrubs. Overdoing it turns the glow you were after into irritation and redness.

  • Normal to oily skin: two to three times a week.
  • Dry or sensitive skin: once or twice a week.
  • Thicker areas like elbows and knees can take more frequent exfoliation.
  • Always moisturise right after scrubbing.
Exfoliating removes dead cells, not the living skin underneath.

Pores absorb moisturiser better right after a scrub, which makes it the right moment for a hand and foot cream on the driest areas.
